All Buttoned Up |
A style blog for the tweedy and erratic. I love leopard print and Alexander McQueen more than is probably normal. My own outfits can be found under this tag. My main blog is prologi. |
Hey look a post! No actual outfits, because I’m Finnish and therefore haven’t seen the sun in two months. I know, I know, the disappointment is palpable. I’m about to spend a week in Chicago hanging with two of my favourite Tumblr-bros, which means trying to boil my wardrobe down until it fits into a suitcase. I’ve been tweaking my selection for the better part of a week (I’m a student, my classes don’t start for ages), and I think this is more or less it. (Sorry about the terrible photos, but again, no sunlight ever. Also, say hello to my bedspread.)

The basics, I guess. Two pairs of jeans, black and purple (newly thrifted, Uniqlo); a skirt I probably won’t wear but fuck it not like it takes up any space; tops with varying sleeve lenghts in black, white, and stripes; a printed Threadless t-shirt; two button-downs, olive green and orange-and-purple check (new, H&M boys’ department).

And layering stuff, to make sure I don’t actually freeze to death. Dark green corduroy blazer (newly thrifted, H&M); olive green military-style hoodie (new, Modcloth); wicked awesome metallic leopard print blazer (new-ish, Topshop); Really Little Black Dress, because you never know (new-ish, Modcloth).

Accesories: Homo Sapiens dog tags (Efva Attling, Christmas present); cocktail ring; small earrings in black, silver and gold; wing brooch thing (Topshop); two double-finger rings (Forever 21 and Modcloth); cheapo men’s watch; fierce huge-ass picture frame watch (Jeremy Scott for Swatch).
Not pictured: charcoal thigh-length wool coat, brown Clarks ankle boots (comfy for walking, snow-proof if need be), brilliant Irregular Choice heels because why not (wow, I paid way less for mine), ridiculous tights to go with the dress and the skirt, a bunch of scarves and unflattering woolly hats (most of them are knit by me and still too big, apparently I still don’t remember that I legit have a child-sized head), a few belts.
I think the most self-indulgent pieces there are all of the accesories the cord blazer and the check shirt, because they’re ones that don’t necessarily work with all the other pieces. They’re the ones I most wanted to take, though, so screw that. Not everything has to be utilitarian. I usually pack pretty light and still manage to not wear most of it, but we’ll see. I’ve been mentally combining these pieces for a while, and I think there are some neat possibilities. If nothing else I can pretend I have a colour palette of black/white/grey with purple and olive accents.
